Work Hours – Working Extended Hours Given the Current Status of the Economy
Given the condition of the current economy with so many lay-off, salary cuts, reduction in benefits.
My philosophy is to do what is asked from me, obviously in reason. I believe that for every time I say ‘no’ there are 20 other people stand, waiting to say ‘yes’. There are so many people being replaced by foreign countries willing to complete the work at a lower cost with promises of efficiency.
I’ve gotten to a point that it annoys me that people complain constantly at work. I understand that companies have the upper hand with demands. They are expecting people to do more work than ever before. Employees that are laid off are not replaced their work is usually divided among the remaining employees. But I would rather work a few extra hours each week than to be laid-off. That age-old defense of “that’s not my job” no longer exists; companies are running lean. Getting the job done is a collective effort.
1. Do you think you should not have to do something that is not apart of your job title/ duties. Such as take meeting minutes, make a modification, that you design, to a vehicle, visit supplier plants, etc.?
2. Would you be willing to work a few extra hours, with pay, to keep your job?
3. Do you think it is manipulative for companies to ask you stay after work to complete task that are behind in schedule?

Do I Scratch Your Back With Hopes You'll Scratch Mine Back
A little background information...
A couple of weeks ago the administrative assistant sent out a message to everyone in the office to let her know when supplies were low. I suggested that she create a list for people to write down what is low or missing and keep the list it the supply room. The list would eliminate duplicates as well as reduce the number of people going into lobby to give her information. Her response was "Good idea, but I don't always go in the supply room". The supply room is around 10-20 feet from her desk.
Today the same administrative assistant (we only have one) called to ask if I could help her make labels for the supply cabinets because she was swapped with work. I wanted to say do you know what I do for a living and you want me to help you with your work... do you not think I have enough work on my plate to help you with your labels that are apart of your job. I'm sure if I asked my manager that it would be turned down. So I told her I would come up with a solution and get back with her. She is definitely are one of those individuals that are mad a life and you NEVER know how she will respond. Normally, I'm quite helpful but I think she is being lazy. What are your thoughts.. am I too high on my high horse and should help her OR am I right for not wanting to help her??? Thoughts??

Has one of the 7 Deadiest sins gotten us to where are now? GREED
Or is it simply waste, lack of seeing the "big picture", or other??
Greed - excessive or reprehensible acquisitiveness: "Having lost all sense sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, with a continual lust for more" Ephesians 4:39
After watching the Real Housewives of Atlanta's Kim Kolciak pulled out her J.P. Morgan Black America Express card in which members are required to spend a minimum of $250,000 a year. I began to wonder what someone could buy with $250K a year. For $250K, you could get a new house every year, you could buy several cars (or one luxury vehicle). What I'm noticing is that the $250K, spent by celebrities, heiress, entrepreneurs is jewelry, clothes, exotic trips, and mistresses, are items that don't return value/ items that depreciate.
$250,000 could buy at least 5 homes for homeless families, $250K could put food in the mouths of several homeless people, $250K could be mortgage payments for families that are now unemployed, BUT to spend it on clothes, shoes, purses that will never be worn /or worn only once, spent on jewelry, and other material items. I understand that if you work hard to get the money then you are entitled to spend it on what ever you see fit... but it makes me wonder how you can justify blowing money with so many needy people around you, with so many tragedies around, so much hate and destruction. It saddens me to think that there are Black Card Holders out there that don't give from their heart - their contributions come from not-for-profit benefits held by colleagues that they want to impress or simply for tax right off... not much thought given to the cause.
I'm not a fan PETA, I watched on those HBO documentaries; there was a meeting on how to stop people from having turkey for Thanksgiving dinner... I'm not sure how much money was spent on the campaign but what if that money had been used to feed the homeless, needy, the unemployed... instead of coming up with ways to stop people from eating meat... why not come up with ways to feed people... spend the money feeding people with animal free products. Isn't it easier to simply provide a solution?
Mark 8:36.. what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the word, and lose his own soul.
