A little background information...
A couple of weeks ago the administrative assistant sent out a message to everyone in the office to let her know when supplies were low. I suggested that she create a list for people to write down what is low or missing and keep the list it the supply room. The list would eliminate duplicates as well as reduce the number of people going into lobby to give her information. Her response was "Good idea, but I don't always go in the supply room". The supply room is around 10-20 feet from her desk.
Today the same administrative assistant (we only have one) called to ask if I could help her make labels for the supply cabinets because she was swapped with work. I wanted to say do you know what I do for a living and you want me to help you with your work... do you not think I have enough work on my plate to help you with your labels that are apart of your job. I'm sure if I asked my manager that it would be turned down. So I told her I would come up with a solution and get back with her. She is definitely are one of those individuals that are mad a life and you NEVER know how she will respond. Normally, I'm quite helpful but I think she is being lazy. What are your thoughts.. am I too high on my high horse and should help her OR am I right for not wanting to help her??? Thoughts??

The admin asst. here always claims to be swamped with work, but I have covered for her in the past. When I have been out there I have been bored to tears because there wasn't enough to do. I think your assessment of her just being lazy was accurate. However, beyond that she definitely doesn't have the type of attitude that exactly makes folks want to jump up and help her. Many times I have felt like telling her "whatever" when she asks me to do favors. So with this particular individual I do not think it is about you being too high on the horse as much as it is her being a pain in the you know what...lol.
